Edward Hughes died Thursday night, November 25, 2004, at Mercy Skilled Nursing 
Center, after a five month illness. He was born on December 9, 1923 in 
Atlantic City, New Jersey and resided in Bakersfield for the past 7 years. 

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Frances and his three 
children, Frances Gaylord of Las Vegas, NV, Gerald Hughes of Claremont, CA, 
and Sharron Hall of Bakersfield. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, 
Kenneth Gaylord Jr., Tina Bennett, John Hall, Margaret Hall, Gerald Hughes 
Jr., and Kevin Gaylord and five great-grandchildren, Kenneth Gaylord III, 
Ashley Gaylord, Nicholas Gaylord, Ian Bennett and Paige Bennett. He was 
preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Hughes of Atlantic City, 
NJ and brothers, Joel and Henry.

Edward retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty-three years of service to 
his country. The interment will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in 
Boulder City, NV after a Mass held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Las 
Vegas, NV on Monday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m.

He was a loving husband who cared deeply for his family and friends and he 
will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
