He was born in Colgate, Oklahoma to Willie Pauline and Earnest Werner Adkins on September 7, 1939. His family moved to Shafter, CA in 1961 where he worked as a heavy equipment operator until he retired. He is survived by 4 children, Donna Barnes, LaVonda Bohannan, Brenda Harshman, Vernon Adkins. He was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. He has 5 surviving sisters and 2 brothers, Clemmie H. Adkins, Ernest Werner Adkins, Vona Davis, Joyce Norris, Linda Kay Ramey and Susan Gibson. Viewing will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2004 from 4-7 p.m. at The Candle Light Chapel located at 1800 Brundage Lane. Graveside services will be held at Shafter Cemetery, Thursday, December 2, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. Services will be performed by his nephew, Minister Robert Brown of Arizona.
