Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2004, at 
7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 3, 
2004, at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Thereses Catholic 
Church. Father Pedro Umana will officiate. 

Nicolas was born in Chupicuaro, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jesus and Maria Asuncion 
Torres. He came to California in 1963 and to Shafter in 1971. He worked on 
several ranches and farms in the Shafter/Wasco area. Nicolas was a very happy 
person and enjoyed life. He was a member of St. Thereses Catholic Church and 
placed his faith and trust in the Virgin of Guadalupe. He loved spending time 
with his family especially his grandchildren. He loved a clean home and was 
always helping to tidy up. He enjoyed cooking and always wanted to be the one 
to cook beans. He loved spending Sundays with the family eating Menudo and 
then the family would cook all types of Mexican dishes, like Pozole and 
Tamales. He liked to watch Novelas and listen to Spanish Rock & Roll music.

Nicolas was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria Asuncion Torres; 
brother, Francisco Torres and sister, Teresa Jaime. He is survived by his wife 
of 40 years, Maria Elena; 4 sons and their wives, Nick and Alicia, Jesus and 
Asencion, Rigo and Yvette, and Ivan Torres; daughters, Sonia and husband, 
Victor Saldana, and Wendy Torres; and 15 grandchildren all of Shafter.
