Dorothy G. Fisher
Nov. 30, 1915 - Nov. 23, 2004

Dorothy passed away in Bakersfield, one week before her 89Th birthday. A woman 
ahead of her time in many ways, Dorothy helped to break the womans 
stereotypical mold by playing womens high school basketball in the late 1920s. 
Competitive to the end, she did 50 mile bike rides in the 1940s, bowling in 
the 1950s and 60s and most recently played bingo and hot games of Dominoes. 
Bright and alert, she was a rock to some, teacher to others and always a 
source of encouraging words to her friends, while looking out for those less 
fortunate, Dorothy was very active in the Bakersfield Community House and 
served a term as President of the Glenwood Gardens Skilled Nursing Residents 
Council. Dorothy is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, spent some time in South 
Bend, Indiana and moved to Bakersfield in 1986 along with her husband of 50 
plus years, Sylvester Bud Fisher who passed away in 1995. 


She leaves her son, Mike Fisher and daughter-in-law, Donna of Bakersfield, 
grandchildren, Nicole Fisher and Allison LeBrun, grandson-in-law, Marc and two 
great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Madeleine LeBrun all of Atlanta, Georgia, 
all of her friends at the Bakersfield Community House and Glenwood Gardens and 
her life-long friend, Laura Huber of Cincinnati.

Memorial services will be held on Wed., Dec. 8, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at Mish 
Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothys memory to the 
Bakersfield Community House, 2020 R St., Bakersfield, Ca 93301.
