'Trini' Rodriguez Mar. 25, 1925 Dec. 2, 2004 Monday, December 6, 2004, from 2-5 p.m. Respects can be paid at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy, Shafter. Monday night the Rosary will be recited at St. Theresas Catholic Church from 7-8 p.m., and Tuesday, December 7, 2004, Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresas Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Shafter Cemetery. Trinidad was born in Shafter, California to Juan and Margarita Rodriguez. He grew up in Shafter and at the age of 19 was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. In the military, he served 2 years in the South Pacific where he saw action in the Philippine Islands and New Guinea. He received two Bronze Stars, one for valor, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal. On July 10, 1949, he married Lilly Torres and had a beautiful wedding. Together they had nine children. Trini farmed for many years prior to becoming employed with Jackson & Perkins (Bear Creek Corp.) in Wasco, California. Trini worked for 28 years as an equipment operator. He loved his family and many friends. Trini was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Margarita Rodriguez, his daughter, Leticia, his son, David, his brothers, Theodore and Ramon Rodriguez, sisters, Hortencia Estavillo, Isidra (Chila) Estavillo, Patricia Weinberger and Vera Rodriguez. He is survived by his children, Ronnie and Phillip Rodriguez of Shafter; Trinidad Rodriguez and his wife, Margie; Amanda Soliz and husband, Arturo; George Rodriguez and wife, Liza, all of Bakersfield, California; Madeline Nieto from Mountain View, California and Ben Rodriguez and wife, Kinelle of Tulare, California. He loved his grandchildren, Cristina Nieto, Vanessa and Gary Bryant, Erica Plaza, Cindy Soliz, Leticia Rodriguez, Phyllis and Deborah Rodriguez, Job, Zach, and Rosie Rodriguez, Stephanie and Michael Rodriguez, Markie and Ben Jr. Rodriguez. Great-grandchildren: Blake and Tristin Bryant. His brothers: John Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez and wife, Sabina; Steve Rodriguez and wife, June; Gavino Rodriguez and wife, Vera all of Shafter; Henry Rodriguez and wife, Lupe of Bakersfield. His many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Trini was a loving father and grandfather who loved to be among family and friends, making people laugh, telling stories and singing.
