Mrs. White was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the sixth of twelve children of Italian immigrants. She married a young soldier, Henry Ervin White, in 1932, and upon his discharge from the service they began a long journey across the country at the end of the Great Depression in search of opportunity. They settled in Bakersfield, California. There she assisted her husband establish a successful business, raise two sons and became an active and well known member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, local volunteer organizations and the community at large. In 1993 she and her husband moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia to be near their oldest son and his family. There she was active in Ascension Catholic Church, especially the Rainbows. In 1999 she became a resident at the Beth Shalom Home of Eastern Virginia. Mrs. White was predeceased by her husband, Henry Ervin White; a son, Roger White; her parents, Josephine and Eugene Rogers; five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Dorothy Rogers of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and a son, Ervin Eugene White and his wife, Donna White of Winfall, NC. Mrs. White is also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday, December 9, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
