He died from the complications of Alzheimers Disease. Born December 1, 1926 in Bakersfield, CA to James W. and Eunice (Emerson) Daly, who were longtime residents, and descendants of California pioneers in Kern County. Dennis attended Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield Jr. College, before joining the Navy in 1945. He served in the Pacific as a signalman and quartermaster. After his discharge in 1946 he attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. He married Marjorie Howard on June 18, 1948. Dennis and his family arrived in Elk Grove, CA, September of 1959, and was employed by the family owned A.L. Gilbert Co. of Oakdale, CA. Being the northern field-man, he was able to have a lasting relationship with California agriculture and Future Farmers of America programs. Dennis is survived by his wife, Marjorie of 56 years, and their three children, Eileen and husband, Bill Hass of Bend, Oregon, Bill and his wife, Mary Ann Weststeyn of Turlock, CA, Paula and her husband, Frank Maita of Elk Grove. He has 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Charles M. Daly of Bakersfield. A Celebration of Life will take place December 21st from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the S.E.S. Hall, 10427 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. The family wishes to extend an invitation to the many friends and business associates he has made through the years.
