Hazel Merlene Collins

Merlene was born August 26, 1916 in Iowa Park, TX, and passed away December 5, 
2004, at her home in Bakersfield. 

Merlene first came to Bakersfield in 1936, with Harmon, as a newlywed. She 
loved it here. Due to circumstance they settled in Redondo Beach for the next 
51 years. Upon retirement they moved to Lake Isabella where Merlene was active 
with the Artist Organizations. For medical reasons they relocated to 
Bakersfield in 1987. At last Merlene was living where she wanted to be. She 
has been an active member of the PALS Band ever since.

She was preceded in death her beloved granddaughter, Stefani in 1989, son, 
Bennie in 1990 and husband, Harmon in 1994. She is survived by daughter, 
Janene; daughter-in-law, Karen; granddaughters, Jennifer, Donna & Lisa; great-
grandchildren, Bretta, Mike and Brandon; great great-grandchildren, Kristin 
and Kayla.

Service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at Greenlawn 
Southwest Mortuary (Panama Lane).
