She was born in Cheraw, Colorado, April 15, 1920, the eldest child of James Edwin and Florence Gertrude Hall. She is survived by her mother; three brothers, Ben, John and Jerre Hall of La Junta, CO; sisters, Shirley Griffin of La Junta and Pat Wren of Cedaridge, CO; a daughter, Candis Phillips of Camarillo, CA; two sons, Gary Stephens of Bakersfield, CA and Brian Stephens of Riverside; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband of 50 years, Herbert Stephens; and two brothers, Jim and Tom Hall. Betty lived a life of faithful Christian service. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, for many years she was involved with Bible Study Fellowship as a Childrens Program Coordinator and Discussion Group Leader. She also served as a Group Leader in Community Bible Study, as a Deaconess. Since moving to Riverside nine years ago, Betty has been involved in the community, as a grief counselor for widows at the Grove Community Church, as a docent at Heritage House, and most recently as a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. Throughout her life Betty constantly blessed the lives of all who knew her. On Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at 9:30 a.m., we will celebrate Bettys life in a funeral service to be held at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Chapel, 7944 Magnolia Avenue, in Riverside followed by an 11:00 a.m. service at Riverside National Cemetery.
