Betty Jane Stephens
Services: Tues., Dec. 14, 9:30 a.m.

Betty Jane Stephens, age 84, entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, 
December 5, 2004. She was born in Cheraw, Colorado, April 15, 1920, the eldest 
child of James Edwin and Florence Gertrude Hall. She is survived by her 
mother; three brothers, Ben, John and Jerre Hall of La Junta, CO; sisters, 
Shirley Griffin of La Junta and Pat Wren of Cedaridge, CO; a daughter, Candis 
Phillips of Camarillo, CA; two sons, Gary Stephens of Bakersfield, CA and 
Brian Stephens of Riverside; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband of 50 years, Herbert 
Stephens; and two brothers, Jim and Tom Hall. 

Betty lived a life of faithful Christian service. In addition to being a 
devoted wife, mother and grandmother, for many years she was involved with 
Bible Study Fellowship as a Childrens Program Coordinator and Discussion Group 
Leader. She also served as a Group Leader in Community Bible Study, as a 
Deaconess. Since moving to Riverside nine years ago, Betty has been involved 
in the community, as a grief counselor for widows at the Grove Community 
Church, as a docent at Heritage House, and most recently as a member of the 
Daughters of American Revolution. Throughout her life Betty constantly blessed 
the lives of all who knew her.

On Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at 9:30 a.m., we will celebrate Bettys life in 
a funeral service to be held at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Chapel, 7944 
Magnolia Avenue, in Riverside followed by an 11:00 a.m. service at Riverside 
National Cemetery.
