G.W. (Dub) Perkins
Jan. 22, 1924 Dec. 7, 2004

G.W. passed away peacefully at Rosewood Retirement Community on the morning of 
December 7, 2004. G.W. was born in Ringling, Oklahoma to Charles and Lidy 
Perkins. After moving to Shafter in the early 1930s, they remained in Kern 
County. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carrie Gallagher, 
brothers, Henry, Carl and Robert Perkins. He is survived by sisters, Jewel 
Sherman and Louise Dozhier of Shafter, California. 

He also leaves behind his wife, of 59 years, Mildred Perkins; son, Darrell 
Perkins and Lanette; daughter, Connie Jones and husband, Dale; sons, Gerald 
(Douglas) Perkins and wife, Sandy. G.W. has five grandchildren, Julie Craffey, 
Deanna Kampminiert and husband, Larry, Daran Perkins and wife, Tammy, Dwayne 
Perkins, Sarah Perkins and fiancé, Andrew; and two great-grandchildren, Dustin 
Craffey and Jilliyn Perkins. Many family members and close friends also 
survive G.W. and will miss him dearly.

G.W. joined the Marines shortly after Pearl Harbor, to serve his country in 
the South Pacific. He returned to Shafter where he met and maried Mildred 
Fisher on April 21, 1945. He worked at many jobs but finished his career as a 
carpenter with the local union 743. He worked in the agricultural community, 
was an accomplished carpenter, construction worker, and contributed to the 
California Aqueduct Project. He was a member of DAV, VFW, American Legion, 
NOTR and marine Corp League. His contributions to these organizations include 
serving in leadership positions, some at the state level. One of his favorite 
pastimes was playing cards with friends and family. He was also a member of a 
local Jeep Club, Rough Riders. He loved sand racing in his Red Devil Jeep and 
all off road adventures, especially at Pismo Dunes, with his family and the 
club.

A Military Graveside Service with Honors will take place on Friday, December 
10th, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane. 
Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 9th from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. at 
Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary.
