She was predeceased by her parents, John and Golda Spurrier, brothers, Louis and Norman Spurrier, and sister, Mrs. Vivian Hiett. She is survived by her husband, Duane Damron; three sons and their spouses, Lyle and Maggie, Brent and Kelly, Paul and Valerie; brother, Lon Spurrier and wife, Ida and brother, John Spurrier; eight grandchildren, Tara, Tori, Stephen, Seth, Christopher, Danae, Cooper and Crosby, as well as a large extended family. Fran attended public schools in Delano, California. Her college work was done at College of the Sequoias in Visalia and San Jose State College. She was a member of the first graduating class from Sacramento State, receiving her B.A. degree in 1955. She taught in Public Schools for twenty-three years. Her teaching assignments were in the primary grades in the cities of Sacramento, Davis, Colusa and Arvin. Most of her tenure was spent at DiGiorgio Elementary School in rural Arvin. Fran organized and taught pre-schools in both Colusa and Arvin and was always actively involved in Christian Education. She maintained membership in Kappa Kappa Iota, an educational Sorority and was very fond of its members. Frans life is well characterized by reflecting on her priorities. These included a disciplined time of personal prayer and Bible Study, and the unreserved and enthusiastic support of her husband and family in their work and involvements. Loyalty and devotion to her local church was high on her list of things of importance. A love for her young students and children in general was always part of her pre-occupation and concern. Frans life was a blessing to all those who knew her. Her gracious and unselfish spirit endeared her to family and friends. She truly leaves a most remarkable legacy. The family would like to thank the Bakersfield Medical community for caring for our loved one, in particular, Dr. William Baker for his care and compassion over the past eighteen years. Frances respected and loved Dr. Baker. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests your support be diverted to a worthy charity. Our families interests include Calvary Baptist Church, 501 Franklin Street, Arvin, CA and Central Valley Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 5124 N. Fresno Street, Fresno, CA.
