Pastor Gary Story of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buttonwillow will officiate the services. Arveda Watson was born July 2, 1930 in Woodruff County, Arkansas, the daughter of James and Nancy Stephens. She married Paul Max Watson on May 31, 1947 in Arkansas and they moved to Wasco in 1948. She was a good homemaker, caring for children, cooking, cleaning and she always had food on the table for family and their friends. She was the neighborhood mom. She enjoyed Bingo and played at the Stars Center in Bakersfield and the Palace in Lemoore. Whenever she could she loved to play Keno in Las Vegas. Arveda is survived by her sons, Ronnie Watson and wife, Sandy, J.T. Watson and wife, Jadene, and Max Watson and wife, Karen; daughters, Cristy Putnam and husband, Roger, Susan Watson, Sara Matthews and husband, Alan, Nancy Williams and husband, Richard and Mary Nightingale and Jeff Kleeman; brothers, Stanley and Woodrow Stephens; sisters, Janet Tackett and Joanna Hester and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Watson; grandchild, Christopher; son-in-law, Kevin Nightingale and brother, Howard Stephens.
