Billie Joe Conner

Jan. 22, 1931 – Dec. 12, 2004

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at the Wood Family Funeral 
Service chapel for Billie Joe Conner, 73, who passed away on Dec. 12 in 
Lancaster.

B.J. was born on Jan. 22, 1931 in Diboll, Texas to Hubbard and Naomi Conner. 
He married the love of his life, Fern Cothren, on Aug. 21, 1950 in Lufkin, 
Texas. He was employed as an instrumentation mechanic from 1959 to 1995, many 
of those years working at U.S. Borox in Boron. 

B.J. and his wife loved traveling all over the United States seeing the sites. 
He had a fascination for bears resulting in several trips to the Sequoias to 
try and catch a glimpse of the allusive animal.  He loved old time country 
music, Bob Wills and Hank Williams being some of his favorites. He loved to 
dance the Western Swing with his wife. B.J. was known as a "good man," devoted 
to his wife and children.

B.J. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fern Conner of Boron; sons, James 
Hancock of Lufkin, Texas, Charles Thomas and wife Dorothy of Boron and Monroe 
Conner of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Deborah Lynn, William, James and Krystal; 
great-grandchildren, Caylee and Catherine; and many dear friends.

Dr. Marvin Slifer officiated at the service. Interment followed at Tehachapi 
Public Cemetery, Eastside. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American 
Diabetes Association, 601 Chester Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93301. 

Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
