Ruth Colleen McCarver

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Arvin 
Congregational Church for Ruth Colleen McCarver who passed away December 16, 
2004. Pastor Wanda Mello and Pastor James Ranger will officiate the service 
and interment will be follow at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin. 

Ruth Colleen McCarver was born November 15, 1952 to William and Jean McCarver 
in Bakersfield, CA. she was raised here and attended locals schools. She 
graduated from Arvin High School and was class of 1971. She also attended 
Bakersfield College and graduated in 1974, she then attended Cal Poly in San 
Luis Obispo and majored in Interior Design in 1976. Ruth owned her own 
business in San Luis Obispo for three years. She also worked for Summer 
Furniture as an Interior Decorator for 15 years. Later she got her teaching 
credentials and taught at Bessie Owens Intermediate school for 10 years. Her 
whole life was dedicated to her students after she began to teach. She loved 
animals, cooking, and reading childrens books. Her favorite vacation spot was 
Morro Bay. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. 

She is survived by her brother, William Shawn and Beth McCarver of Columbus, 
Ohio, her sister, Kathy and Owen Kearns of Bakersfield; her nephew, Andrew 
Patrick McCarver, Michael Patrick Lonagren; uncle, John Hayes, and cousin, 
John Hayes, Jr., including other relatives and fiancé, Thomas Roberts of 
Bakersfield, CA.
