He is survived by his eternal partner and loving wife, Patti Jean (Hugie) Chamberlain, and their four children, Christopher David, age 16, Kathryn Jean, age 13, Spencer Eldon, age 10, and Austin Grant, age 5; his parents, Grant and Marilyn Chamberlain of Albany, CA; sisters, Alyce (Michael) Todd of Park City, UT; Marilee (Howard) Olson of Lindon, UT; and Cathy (Randolph) Cribbs of Yokata AB, Japan; brother, Brian (Janet) Chamberlain of Las Vegas, NV; parents- in-law, Eldon and Cleo Hugie of Bakersfield, CA; brothers-in-law, Michael Hugie of Salt Lake City; David (Carla) Hugie of Bakersfield, CA; and Robert (Connie) Hugie of Keizer, Oregon; sister-in-law, Susan (Luke) Donnelly of Portland, OR; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other in-laws who love and adore David. David, the oldest of five children, was born February 20, 1959 and raised in Berkeley, California during a turbulent time in that area. David was an Eagle Scout, High School Student Body President, and avid outdoorsman. Mountains and rivers were a great passion for him and he taught his family, including his parents, backpacking, canoeing, camping and fishing. He canoed competitively in his teen years finishing in the top three in the West Coast in flat water in 1976. After growing up in a musical family, singing at home and church remained a source of strength and enjoyment. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brussels, Belgium from 1978 to 1980 and attended Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Economics and, subsequently, a Masters in Business Administration. After working in the corporate world for several years, primarily in Atlanta, Georgia, and serving as the principal shareholder and president of one of the largest security and alarm companies in Southern California, he started his own insurance company as an independent insurance broker particularly focused on employee medical benefits, with offices in Bakersfield, California and in Eagle, Idaho. David was a great teacher and positively influenced everyone with whom he interacted. He consistently donated his time to church service in the LDS faith, serving in the Elder Quorum and Young Mens Programs (Boy Scouts of America). He had the personal pleasure of working with his son, Chris, who has passed all requirements for the Eagle rank which he is to receive at an upcoming Court of Honor. Peace and happiness in his family life were derived from his temple sealing in the Oakland California LDS Temple as he began his eternal marriage with Patti on June 15, 1985. He found expression for his playful side in spending time with his children outdoors in their swimming pool or in the mountains. He especially enjoyed fishing trips on the Rogue River, Oregon and the Kanetok River in Alaska. His ambition and joy came from providing motivation and setting an example for his family. He recently moved his family to Eagle, Idaho from Bakersfield, California, in part to take advantage of the beautiful mountains, lakes and rivers of Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Eagle Stake Center. Bishop Robert Southworth of the Eagle 3rd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Friends may call to visit with the family on Monday, June 28th, from 6-8 p.m., at the Relyea Funeral Chapel, and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at the church on Tuesday before the services.
