Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. at Doughty-Calhoun- OMeara Mortuary. Theresa Marchetti was born on April 17, 1913, in Tassignano, Lucca, Italy. She was preceded in death by her parents Pia and John Banducci, and her brother, Harry Banducci. She immigrated to the Unites States when she was 7 years old through Ellis Island. She, with her mother, traveled by train to be with her father in Mojave, California. They then moved to the Bakersfield area where Theresa grew up. Theresa and her late husband, Henry Marchetti purchased land and developed a farm in Old River Area as well as owning the Pumpkin Center Bar. Together they developed the Pumpkin Center Dance Hall where some country and western groups got their start. She loved raising chickens, pigeons and rabbits and working in her garden. She was an excellent cook. She was a member of IDES, ICF, Dante Club, Sacred Heart Church and Lady Lions. She is survived by 3 daughters, Elsie Collins and husband, Tom; Joan Souma and husband, Robert; Mary Henson and husband, Leonard; also, brother-in-law, Lido Marchetti and sister-in-law, Ella Banducci. She has 12 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Dennis Collins and wife, Penny; Donna Mask and husband, Dave; Diane Johnson and husband, Ron; David Rasmussen and wife, Michelle; Steve Rasmussen and wife, Tracie; Kenneth Rasmussen and wife, Kate; Bruce Rasmussen and wife, Meg; Eric Rasmussen and wife, Shelly; Jeff Rasmussen and wife, Gina; Sandy Henson; Capts. Wesley Henson and wife, Monica; Sgt. Henry Henson and wife, Anja and numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Saiki, and Dr. Kyu. Special thanks to Rosewood Convalescent and Hoffmann Hospice for their special concern for our mother, and also her special caregiver, Maria Kio. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity or to the Diabetes Association. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
