Goff. He grew up on the family farm in the rural area of Louisville, Kentucky. At the age of 16, David worked for the railroad until the time that he entered the service. He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS American Legion. After his tour of duty he met and married the love of his life, Jeane Ames. They then moved to California and David worked as a carpenter. He was in construction for 57 years and was one of the most skilled and respected finish carpenters in the industry. David was a master carpenter. He always went the extra mile and took the time to make certain every project was the best it could be. Even the small things he made for his daughters and grandchildren were amazingly detailed. David just had a natural talent for carpentry. At the age of 16, he built an exquisite four post bed for his parents. David was one of the finest men that ever walked this earth. He was a loving husband, an adoring father, and cherished brother to his siblings. He loved his grandchildren and showered them with wonderful handmade gifts. David loved country music, was a talented guitar player and used to have his own country and western band. Little Daves Corkers played all the best honky-tonks around town. We can remember as children all the joyous jam sessions that went on in our home. He enjoyed people tremendously and was well loved. He was the best Daddy in the world. David leaves behind two sisters, Mary Agnes Pointer and Thelma Taylor, both of Kentucky; his three daughters, Paula and husband, Ray Romines, who helped him go to Heaven, Mary Bryant, with whom he lived for the last year, his daughter, Debbie and husband, Michael Harvey, all of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren, David and Dominic Lopez, Joshua, Caleb, and Jaime Bryant, Michael Jr. and Marshall Harvey, and Sarah Harvey who was his special caregiver for the last year of his life. Davids family again wishes to thank Optimal Hospice. His nurses, Sharon Hicks and Kyle Ray, a special thanks to his healthcare provider, Lori Smith, who was so tender and loving with him, and to our sweet Mary Gonzales for her devotion to David and his family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mish Funeral Home on Minner Ave., in Oildale.
