Carl was born October 8, 1938 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Raymond and Myrtle Paulk and he went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2004 with his family by his side in Bakersfield, CA. Carl is survived by his wife of 41 years, JoAnne (Story) Paulk of the famous Story family of Bakersfield; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Penny Richardson and; Edward and Robbie Paulk; 2 daughters, Nichole Paulk and Chelsea Paulk of Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Marleen and Gary Patt and their son, Kelly Sherman Patt of Bakersfield. Kelly was also known as Grandpas Boy; greatly loved brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Janie Paulk of Bakersfield and greatly loved sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Jim Coulter of Texas; long-time close friend Don Richardson; and countless other extended family members and friends. Carl moved to California at the age of 2 with his family and at age 6 made his permanent home in Bakersfield. He attended high school at East Bakersfield High. He joined the Navy and served in active duty from October 1955 to September 1957 and received an honorable discharge. Carl then worked construction and was self employed/owner of Carl Paulks Water Trucking of Bakersfield. He loved to hunt, fish and attend family gatherings. He enjoyed gathering of friends and family and listening to his wife play the piano and entertain them. Carl was known for his wit and sense of humor. He especially enjoyed every opportunity to play practical jokes on his friends, as well as family and looked forward especially to playing jokes and tricks on Sandy Grove a very close sister of JoAnnes. Sandy and Carl each looked forward to the practical jokes they played on each other. Carl had struggled these past 3 years with his illness and during his battle and reflection of his sickness came to know the Lord as his personal Savior and was baptized. For the past 7 months he was at home under the care of hospice which gave us the opportunity to have some extra special visits. We love you Dad and will see you again someday.
