McDonald Celebration of Life: Fri., Jan 7, noon Delvin D. McDonald passed away December 30, 2004, in Arroyo Grande, California after a long battle with cancer. Del was born in Maricopa, CA March 29, 1932 to LeRoy and AnnaBelle McDonald. The family moved to Fellows, CA that same year where Del and his siblings attended primary school, then on to Taft Union High, Del graduated from there in 1950. After High School Del was drafted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Korean conflict. Del is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Lynn; son, Douglas McDonald, Robert and Crystal McDonald, James and Vicki Estes, David Estes and Chris Estes; grandchildren, Bryan McDonald, Brittney Anne and Grant McDonald, Jason and Scott Estes, Zack, Alyssia and Heather Estes. Del was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy McDonald; his mother, AnnaBelle McDonald; sister, Katie Vaughn; and a brother, Hester (Hash) McDonald. Two surviving siblings are a sister, Ramona Kirkpatrick of Long Beach, and one brother, Marvin (Dumpy) McDonald of Washington; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Del was a member of the Choctaw Indian Tribe and found much pleasure in attending the tribal festivities when held locally. Del was also a 44-year member in the Elks Lodge as well as the Moose Lodge. He lived and worked many years in Bakersfield in the oilfield business, bartending business, trucking business, and was an avid golfer, but his real love was being a cowboy and cattleman, spending many hours on his ranch in Bakersfield. Del and his wife, Lynn retired to Oceano in 1998 and loved living near the beach. He spent most of his time in woodworking, building bird houses and home imporvement. He loved his work shop. Del will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Please join us to celebrate Delvin McDonald, at the Woolgrowers, 620 E. 19th Street, Friday, January 7, at 12:00 p.m. for lunch.
