Leonard S. Montes
Services: Sat., Jan. 8, 1:30 p.m.

Leonard Montes was born on July 6, 1955 in Bakersfield and passed away on 
January 1, 2005, in Hollister, California. Leonard spent the first six years 
of his life at the Tejon Indian Reservation. The Montes family moved to 
Fellows in 1961. Leonard attended Midway School and is a 1973 graduate of Taft 
Union High School. Leonard started his lifelong passion as a working cowboy 
attending the Porterville Horseshoeing School in Porterville in 1973. Leonard 
worked at numerous ranches in Arizona, Nevada and California. Leonard was able 
to enjoy his work as a cowboy until his death. 

Leonard is survived by his parents, Cat and Juanita Montes of Fellows; his 
sister, Donna Montes of Taft; nephews, Chris Montes, Levi Montes and soon to 
be niece, Robin Bogle of Taft; special cousin, Bud and Laurie Montes of Orange 
Cove, CA; and was Papa to Josey, Jase and Jeb Burke of Maricopa; and an 
endless amount of family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at OT Cook House, 205 N. 10th St., Taft on 
Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. There are no visitation hours scheduled 
and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral 
Home.
