Greg, the oldest of three sons, was born in Bakersfield, CA, on June 3, 1919. He attended Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield Jr. College. He was active in track & field, and held the school record in the pole vault. He studied oil technology during his two years in college. He worked for Ohio Oil after college, but ultimately found employment with Standard Oil. At age 59, he retired after 38 years of service. He left Standard Oil for a time during World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He served in Portsmouth, VA and worked as a physical instructor. An avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and later golf. He often shared these activities with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Florence Helen (Hatfield); his brother Gene; daughter Janice Pritchett and husband Jake; son Steve and wife Pat, and son Larry; 6 grandchildren, Marcy, Robin, Corey, Lori, Timi & Annie; and eleven great-grandchildren.
