Ruth was born on September 20, 1948 in Morenci, Arizona. The family moved to Bakersfield, California when she was six months old. Ruth graduated from South High School in Bakersfield in 1966 where she was active in the school yearbook production and photography and served as class treasurer. After graduation, Ruth began a career as an Advertising Artist with Sears Roebuck & Company. She was a very talented artist, often having to hand draw advertised merchandise when no picture or mats could be found. Early newspapers and catalogs often featured Ruths hand drawn merchandise for sale. In 1968 Ruth met the love of her life, Roy Navarrette who was starting his career as a Cal-Trans employee in Bakersfield. When Ruths job took her to the Sacramento area in 1969, Roy followed soon afterward. Ruth with Roy began an active life in Sacramento. They enjoyed boat drags, taking their boat to Folsom Lake, water skiing and huge Bar-B-Qs where they entertained their many, many friends. Ruth and Roy were married for 30 wonderful years until his sudden death in 2001. As she had done with Roy, Ruth continued to help and lend her support to family and friends in their time of need. Ruths last job was as a Student Counseling Technician for Sierra College until she retired after 11 years of service. Ruth is survived by her sister, Karyn Clevenger and husband, Al and sister, Laura Moreno all of Bakersfield, California; a stepdaughter, Yvette Sanchez and husband, Albert and their children, Savannah, Quinton and Audriannah, the precious grandchildren that Ruth loved so very much.
