McCabe March 17, 1939 January 6, 2005 Patrick E. McCabe passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, 2739 Panama Lane. Viewing and visitation will be Monday, January 10, 2005 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Patrick McCabe was born on March 17, 1939 in Prescott, Arizona. After living for a short time in Germany, he and his family settled in Bakersfield where he graduated from Bakersfield East High School and then joined the Navy. Following his service in the Navy, his jobs with Mission Linen and his father- in-laws business, Amador Linen, took him to several cities before he finally returned to Bakersfield with his family and began working for Sparkle Textile Uniform Rental. Later he accepted a position with Varsity Contractors, where he will be dearly missed. Pat is survived by his loving and devoted daughter, Kelley Brown, son-in-law, Bryan Brown, and his wonderful grandchildren, Heather Brown, Blake Brown and Nicholas Esposito, and his mother, Natalie McCabe. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Errin McCabe DiMaggio and his father, Edward A. McCabe. Pat was an avid bowler and was a member and past president of the Mens Bowling Association. He also enjoyed his membership in the Loyal Order of Moose (Lodge #2178). Pat lived for his work with Varsity Contractors and especially the opportunity to work with his best friend and fishing partner Curt Broughton. The many camping and fishing trips with Curt to Lake Isabella and parts unknown were always a great source of enjoyment and happy memories for Pat, as were those times spent with friends enjoying a cold beer. He also valued the wonderful friendships he made working with Varsity at the State Farm office and his family truly appreciates those many wonderful friends, especially his fellow employees Fanna, John and Donald, who were always checking in with him and who cam by to visit Pat during his many hospital stays over the past year. Most important, Pat was a caring and loving father and grandfather to his daughters, who adored Pops, and his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Although his family will miss him more than words could ever express, they will be forever comforted by the unconditional love and wonderful memories he gave them. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Lung Association or Kern County Red Cross.
