Thompson will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary. No visitation is scheduled. Peggy was born on January 25, 1921 in Candu, North Dakota and passed away on January 7, 2005, in Bakersfield. She left North Dakota at the age of 13 and began a waitress career. She opened a seafood restaurant in Seattle, WA with her sister and later moved to California. She worked as a waitress in Bakersfield in excess of 60 years, at Freddies Top of the Hill, Lorenes and J&Ms. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother and husband, Curley Thompson who she married in 1962; longtime friend and companion Slim Masters. Peggy is survived by her special friend, Ruby Matzke; daughter-in- law, Fran Thompson; Curleys son, Paul and Beth Thompson; daughter, Barbara and Bill Conley; grandchildren, Kevin and Vicky Thompson, Jeff and Lorie Thompson, Mike and Kellie Grisedale, Jason and Jill Matzke; John and Denise Tees and Todd Conley; 15 great-grandchildren; and great-nieces and nephews in Oregon. She also leaves friends, Patti, Barbara, Kelly, Millcine, Fay, Mary and Vicki. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Optimal Hospice.
