Baker, 62, of Bakersfield, who passed away January 7, 2005, at his home. Mr. Forest Hagood will officiate. Mr. Baker was born October 7, 1942, in Bakersfield, grew up and went to school in Oildale, and graduated from North High School. Gary worked in the oilfields for about 25 years, twelve of those for Advanced Production. For the last 12 to 13 years, he worked as a truck driver and loved it. Gary had a wonderful sense of humor, a very boisterous laugh, loved to tease and never met a stranger. He was a kind and gentle man, always concerned about others, even the stranger he may have just met. He was loved and respected very much and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmira and Wayland. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Baker; twin brother, Larry Baker and wife, Carol; sister, Larona Benefield and husband, Wally, all of Bakersfield; brother, Don Baker and wife, Iris of Alaska; four children, daughter, Joy Baker of Grover Beach; son, Alan Baker and wife, Gloria; daughter, Shari Blazer and husband, Tim, all of Bakersfield; and daughter, Regina Sheldon and husband, Troy of Pismo Beach; granddaughter, Hailey Baker; grandsons, Aaron and Adam Blazer, all of Bakersfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Optimal Hospice or the American Cancer Society. No visitation is scheduled.
