Louis Nepoleon (Bud) Stewart was seventy five years old. He was born on March 21, 1929 in Magnolia, Mississippi. He was the baby boy to Monroe Stewart Farmer an entrepreneur, and Mother Ercie Allen Stewart, mid wife and missionary who preceded him in death. He had ten siblings, six brothers and four sisters, Earll, Walt, Guy, Shelly, Joe, David, Earnsiteen, Alteen, Vergie and Eunice. Louis Nepoleon (Bud) Stewart was inducted into the U.S. Army February 1951 at the tender age of twenty-two, later he would be transferred to the Army Reserves with an honorable discharge in January 1953. Louis Nepoleon (Bud) Stewart was a member and Deacon of St. Paul COGIC Church. That is where he met and fell in love with God and his future wife. Bud, along with his good friend, Deacon Percy (Dustie) Richard, would have a double wedding on December 19, 1953, when both Deacons would marry the Hill sisters from Alabama, Effie Lee and Dorothy Lee. After working in the cotton fields, Bud would venture out learning a new skill and trade in plastering. In 1958, Bud would become one of the first Black contractors licensed to engage in the business of plastering. Owning his own business, he was able to pass on these skills he had developed to just about any one that wanted to learn the trade. Louis Nepoleon (Bud) Stewart loved life. One could say he never met a stranger, and was no stranger to anyone he met. His love for fishing and hunting would bring together family and friends to enjoy with him the spoils of the catch of the day or just the sound of the running the hounds. Family bar-b-ques were always like a picnic in the park. Bud enjoyed working in his garden growing tomatoes, greens, peppers, etc.. A buffalo solider at heart; Kid Calahand (Bud) would ride with the wind. In doing so, he won award and trophies in Black History Parades and parades all across the country. Bud was a member of the Masons and Plaster Union. Louis Nepoleon (Bud) Stewart would fellowship with Lilly of the Valley COGIC Church, offering his services by helping with the new social hall and cooking bar-b-ques for our first lady, Sharon Barefield at her birthday party. Elder Charles Barefield, Pastor of Lily of the Valley COGIC and his family adopted Bud and Effie as their own beloved Papa Bear and Granny Bear. Louis Nepoleon (Bud) Stewart leaves his cherished and devoted wife, Effie Stewart of fifty-one years; and dearest sisters, Mattie Richard; and loving brother, Marshall Stewart; his daughter, Alicia and husband Bobby Ford; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a granddaughter; Donaice Guy of Daily City, CA; a grandson, Ali Williams of Winters, CA and his two sons, Raymone and Emanuel Williams; grandson, Marcus Williams, Jr.; a grand- daughter, Mrs. Precious and husband Mike Woods and their son Michael Napoleon Woods; granddaughters, Angel Ford, Faith Ford and Heavenly Ford all of Bakersfield, CA and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
