After a brief illness, she went to sleep with Jesus on January 11, 2005 in Tehachapi, California. Bertha was a long time resident of Bakersfield, a school teacher and a charter member of the Hillcrest Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was the author of several childrens books and dedicated to her family, her church, and friends. She was loved and respected by all who knew her, especially her students and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cooper Crow in 1985, and her oldest son, Charles Curtis Crow in 1968. She is survived by three children, James Crow of Monticello, Arkansas, Stephen Crow of Woodstock, Georgia, and Diane Stoller of Tehachapi, California; four brothers, Carl, Donnie, Dean, and Kenneth Griffin; three sisters, Lois McDonald, Ethel Bates, and Betty Silva. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. A Doctorate of English, she taught E.S.L. at Bakersfield Adult School for over 20 years, until her retirement in 2003. Besides having a great love for life, she was an accomplished musician, singing and playing the piano, violin, and guitar. She loved all aspects of music. She was also an artist, working with oils and acrylic paints. She loved to travel, and in her travels visited Tonga, Bolivia, China, and many parts of Europe. Mama, you were the anchor that kept us safe in any storm. Even though you are gone from our sight, you will always be in our hearts and thoughts. Sleep peacefully. The next thing you see will be our Dear Saviors face.
