A memorial service will also be held Saturday, January 22, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of the Mountains, 246 Church St., Grass Valley, CA. Nelva Keifer Clark was born July 20, 1920 in Butte, Montana and died peacefully in the home of her son, Bill Clark and his family on December 23, 2004. She spent the first five years of her life in Seely Lake, Montana until her parents returned to their teaching careers in Ferndale, CA. During the 1930s the family settled in Glendale, CA. Nelva graduated from Glendale High School in June 1938. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (on the old Rivera campus) graduating in June 1942 and getting married to Robert L. Clark on July 20, 1942. The couple subsequently had four children and moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1952. Nelva continued her parents professional tradition and became a kindergarten teacher for many years. In the 1970s Nelva became involved with the First Church of Religious Science in Bakersfield and began to discover her many spiritual talents. She became a Religious Science practitioner and a minister. Nelva had a lifelong interest in energetic and spiritual healing and spent many years studying, practicing and teaching others in these healing arts. She moved to Nevada City, CA in 1994 and deeply enjoyed her years there with many friends and activities. Nelva had a talent for keeping track of her many friends and was a consistent correspondent. She made a friend wherever she went. Her sense of humor was at its best when the circumstances were the most impossible. She is survived by a daughter, Diana Wood of Sacramento and three sons, Bob Clark of Atascadero, Bill Clark of Martinez and Jim Clark of Bakersfield. She has ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
