He was born in Bakersfield, CA on February 14, 1929. A lifelong resident of Bakersfield, he enlisted in the United States Navy for two years. In 1949, Art married Joan Benoy and began a life as a devoted husband and father of three daughters. He worked for Keisub Corporation for twenty-five years and McManus Oil Company before retiring in 1980. Art was a lifetime member of the Bakersfield Elks BPOE Lodge # 266, serving as Exalted Ruler, Past District Deputy, and Trustee of the Lodge. He was an active member of SIRS and International Footprinters Association. In his later years, he was the champion of six grandchildren and an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman. He also had an enthusiasm for traveling worldwide and was an expert card player. Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Joan; mother, Lucille; brother, Terry; and sister, Florence Giumarra. Art is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Lucille and Dennis Lynch, Susan and Rick Paulson, and Florence and Dennis Crosby; his grandchildren, Kristina, Stephanie, and Natalie Lynch, Kelley Paulson, Jonathan and his wife, Jalina Baker, and Eric Baker; brothers-in-law, Dean Benoy and Sal Giumarra and his wife, Cynthia. He is survived by his cousin, Loretta Miller, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. William Nyitray, Dr. Robert Kopelman, Dr. Robert Laughlin, and their associates. A special thank you to The Bakersfield Heart Hospital and their nurses, CNAs, Respiratory Therapists, and the Dialysis Team. A heart felt thank you to Alternative Care, especially the compassionate support given by Tamara, Karen, and Leslie. At the familys request, there will be no visitation and burial services will be private.
