He was born in Emporia, Kansas on June 3, 1916. He moved to Long Beach, CA during his childhood and completed high school in Fresno, CA. at Fresno Tech. He joined the California Conservation Corps before serving in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He was stationed in the South Pacific and analyzed enemy codes. He returned home to his wife Marjorie Hogan and they had three children before her death. He then married Barbara Lawson and gained a daughter and son. Mr. Myer worked for DiGiorgio Fruit Company for over 35 years, specializing in personnel management and worker safety. Before retirement, he worked for the Bellridge Fruit Company for four years. After Barbaras death in 1971, he moved to Cayucos and married his third wife, Eleanor Edwards in 1975. He spent his retirement visiting with family, playing cards, and fishing. He is survived by his brother Jim Myer and his wife Jane of Downey, CA; his children, daughters, Donna Scheuble of Vacaville, Mary Lee Myer of Porterville, Margaret Polacek and husband Dennis of Fresno, and his sons Dick Myer Jr. and his wife Christie of Visalia, and Harry Myer and his wife Ellie of Burbank; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A celebration of Dicks life will be held at the Inn at Morro Bay, 60 State Park Road, Morro Bay, CA on Saturday, Jan. 22nd from 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
