Gerald "Jerry" Buerkle
09/16/1934 - 01/14/2005

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 11:30 A.M. at 
Greenlawn Memorial Park, River Blvd., for Gerald Buerkle, 70, who passed away 
January 14, 2005 in Bakersfield. 

Jerry was born in Bakersfield on Sept. 16, 1934 at Mrs. Frys Maternity Home to 
Fern and Wesley Buerkle. He attended Bakersfield High School and afterwards 
served overseas in the U.S. Army for two years. In 1959 he married Helen 
Imhoff. The two eventually moved to Buttonwillow, CA, where he farmed cotton 
and actively participated in the community. The father of five, Jerry took a 
direct interest in the town on behalf of his children through the local school 
board, 4-H Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. Moving his family to Bakersfield 
in 1987, he increased his involvement in Bakersfield West Rotary and real 
estate development. In his gradual retirement, Jerry enjoyed the company of 
his friends and family through motor home trips, barbecues, and boating.

He is survived by his brother Charles Bud Buerkle, his sister, Bobbie Wagner, 
children, Lori Palla and husband Mark of Bakersfield, Kathryn Fauver and 
husband Jeff of Fillmore, CA, Eric Buerkle, Karen Buerkle of Washington DC, 
and Wesley Buerkle of Baton Rouge, LA and grandchildren, Marci and Daniel 
Palla and Ty, Cale, and Coby Fauver.
