Mrs. Partain was born on Feb. 6, 1913 in Riverdale, Fresno County, CA to Susan and Richard Barritt. She graduated from Riverdale High School. She married Edgar Sherman Partain in 1934. She came to Bakersfield soon after she married but moved many times throughout the country following her husband in the oil exploration business. They came back to live in Bakersfield in 1952 where her husband started their own drilling business. Susie was a wonderful homemaker and dedicated her life to raising their five children. She was very active in her church, served on the Baptist Missionary Society Committees for many years and taught adult Sunday school for over 35 years. After her husband passed away in 1974 after 40 years of marriage, she traveled extensively. She studied her Bible and her many religious books, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family believes Susie was a fine Christian woman who lived her life for her loved ones and always was giving and loving to those who knew her. She never faltered in her faith in God and his Son and savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nadine and Bill Cooper of Allen Oklahoma, Lea and Craig Lamond of Beavercreek, Oregon, daughter-in-law, Wanda Partain of Bakersfield and son Richard Partain of Bakersfield, California; grandchildren are Marisue, Shawn, Stacy, Jennifer, Mila, JoEllen, Catherine, Ross, Jesse, Michael and great-grandchildren, Matthew Loya, Taylor Loya, Bradley Bobo, James Bobo, Madison Cooper & Madison Smith. Mrs. Partain was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Partain, her sons, Neal Partain and Edgar Partain Jr., sister, Mila Rice and brother, Emery Haines. Hillcrest Memorial is in charge of arrangements. A service will be held there on Friday, January 21 at 10:00 A.M. with graveside services to follow. Mother loved flowers but donations may be made to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission.
