Mom was the eldest daughter of 12 children. Mom married our dad, Maurice Alvarez, in 1942. They were married 56 wonderful years until his death in 1998. On January 14, 2005, Mom was reunited with him. Mom enjoyed so many things in life. You always knew when you were close to home, when you could smell her baking, cooking, or her fresh tortillas. Mom loved to feed anyone that stopped by; the first thing she would ask was, Have you eaten? Are you hungry? She enjoyed cooking, but not as much as she enjoyed eating it. Mom loved fishing and camping with her family. One of her greatest pleasures was taking dads quarters for catching the biggest or most fish. She enjoyed gardening; her flowerbeds reflected the beauty and colorful flowers of the season. She loved sports and was an avid Dodger fan. Most of all, she loved watching three generations of her childrens sports. She also loved music and dancing. In her early days she and dad seldom left the house without their little brown portable record player and Dads guitar. She was the co-founder of the Contreras Scholarship Fund. Angelita is survived by her eight children and spouses, Evelyn & Mayo Jaso, Sylvia & Daniel Felix, Maurice & Teri Alvarez, Sonja & Robert Robles, Bernard & Mary Alvarez, Pumpkin & Alex Santa Cruz, George & Peggy Alvarez, Lisa & Roy Palomino; 6 brothers; 2 sisters; 34 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Angelita Montgomery, Bernadette Mendibur, Jeanine Douglas, Monique Robles, Diana Torres, Shelly Santa Cruz, Tracy Alvarez, and Laura Elrod. Honorary Pallbearers are Gina Bishop and Jessica Robles. When Dad died, the fear of losing Mom was always there, but God gave us six extra years with her. We will always thank God for this. We know Mom is at peace and is enjoying the benefits of being a wonderful person because she is now in Gods heavenly world. We would like to thank the family members & friends who helped us in our time of need. A special thanks to Dr. Carlos Alvarez & his staff, and Hoffmann Hospice for their care of our Mom. We love you and will miss you. Hopson-Anspach Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
