She was born the ninth child of thirteen children to Jose and Soledad Villarreal. At the age of 13 Petra left Mexico to search for a better life in America. She married Fidel M. Rangel and started her own family and maintained a faithful wife, dutiful mother to her husband and children until the tragedy of 1990 when her husband passed away. The struggle now remains with her children: Robert Villarreal, Raul, Jimmy, Yesenia, Gregory, and Fidel Rangel. On January 18, 2005 Petra passed to be with God and reunite with her husband. Petra was a strong lively woman who loved her family, people, and music. Petra in this walk of life helped anyone and everyone who needed it. Whether it would be with a simple meal, a place to live, or a few dollars. Many who knew her, or heard of her within the Arvin Community, knew she would be the one to turn to for help. She said she did it because she remembered her struggle to make it here in the States. She was a people person, who had a big heart and most importantly a woman of faith. She leaves behind six good children, six beautiful grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. We love you Mom and will forever miss you.
