Teagarden, 86, cherished and loved by his family, passed away on January 19, 2005, at his home. He was born on February 12, 1918, in Dallas, Texas. He attended Terrill Prep School and Southern Methodist University. During WWII, he was in the U.S. Air Force. As a member of the 6th Ferrying Group, he was the Commanding Officer of the Ferrying Squadron in Palm Springs, CA. In the European theater, he was with the Air Transport Command and was Director of Operations in England and France. Among other medals, he was awarded two Bronze Stars. After the war, he moved to California where he began a career in farming, after which he started a new career in the life insurance business with New York Life. He soon moved to New England Life where he achieved the highest awards from his company and retired with 25 years in the industry. His greatest passion was to be on the golf course with his friends. Some have accused him of wearing out the range ball machine at Bakersfield Country Club and Stockdale Country Club, both of which he was a member. First wife, Evie Rush and second wife, Martha Jean preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara; a sister, Elizabeth Jackman of San Francisco, CA; a brother, Frank Teagarden of Houston, TX; two sons and their wives, Joseph and Diana of Memphis, TN, and Tom and Susan of Bakersfield; two step-daughters, Heather and Linda. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive him. At Joes request, there will be no services. Those who wish may make a donation to Optimal Hospice Care.
