Allyson Kim (Barton) Nickell
07/25/1953 - 01/18/2005

Kim (Barton) Nickell was born in Avenal, California to Jim and Kathryn Barton. 
Her family moved to Bakersfield where she attended elementary schools Frank 
West, Caroline Harris, and Curran Jr. High. She graduated from West High 
School in 1971. Kim took business classes at Bakersfield College and worked 
for many years as a bookkeeper at the El Tejon Pharmacy, a job at which she 
excelled. She devoted much of her life to her work and to raising her son, 
Michael Garner. 

In 1993 ill health caused Kim to retire from the workforce. That same year she 
married David Nickell. Dave and Kim enjoyed their years together as husband 
and wife. Their happiness together serves as an example to everyone so blessed 
as to know them. Kim loved working crossword puzzles, tending her five 
dachshunds, and the time she spent with her family.

Kim leaves a large extended loving family that deeply feels her loss and 
celebrate her life. She is survived by her husband, David Nickell; her son, 
Michael Garner; her parents, Jim and Kathryn Barton; her brothers and their 
wives, Larry and Laura Barton and Tom and Alice Barton; her sister and her 
husband, Laurel and Mark Britton; her grandmother, Beatrice Barton and many 
aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In rememberance of Kim you may send donations to the Arthritis Association of 
Bakersfield, 1800 Westwind Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93301.

Services for Kim will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 
Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Stine Rd.
