He battled a long painful fight against cancer. Given a few weeks to live, Vernon being a strong person, left on his terms when he was ready and at home with his family. Vernon built tanks for over 40 years and there was nothing he couldnt fix or repair. He worked all over the world and in almost every state. He was a trouble shooter for the largest tank companies in the world and was very well respected. Vernon loved his kids and enjoyed his grandchildren. His biggest possession was life and his touring Honda motorcycle. Even when to weak to ride, he would sit on it and pretend he was cruising! We know on a few occasions he would still sneak it out and go around the block. He worked for Palmer Tank for 30 years and owned his own business in Saipan, Japan. He worked for Columbian Tank and Superior Tank, but would always return to work with his brother, Jerry Palmer at Palmer Tank. He is survived by his sons, Kelly and Daron Palmer; daughters, Caron Palmer, Cynda Palmer, and Susan Howe Kelly; brother, Jerry Palmer and wife, Debbie; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and R.L. Smith; former wife, Carolyn VanWinkle-Palmer; step children, Tawni, Trisha, and Tiffany; girlfriend hawk; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
