Murray was born on January 20, 1920, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky to Frank and Electa Foote and passed to her maker on January 22, 2005. She was raised in Fort Thomas and Beckley, West Virginia and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.S. in Public Health Nursing. She worked as a Public Health Nurse in Ventura, CA, Anchorage, AK and Bakersfield. In Ventura she met her future husband, Richard Murray. They were married in Fort Thomas on August 20, 1949 and spent 55 wonderfully happy and prosperous years together. They raised three successful sons: Richard Jr., John, and Donald. Helen enjoyed many years traveling and living in various countries around the world following her husband in his oilfield work. After retirement to Bakersfield in 1977, Helen was active in The American Association of University Women (AAUW), several bridge groups, and many volunteer service groups. Helen is survived by her husband, Richard and three sons and their wives: Richard Jr., and Sandra, John and Anna, Donald and Patricia; four grandchildren: Kristin, Lee, Adam, and Katherine; two cousins: Albert and Phil Storrs; and two sisters-in-law: Helen Miller and Edith Skillin; as well as several nephews and many friends. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Tuesday, January 25th, at 9:30 a.m., with a following Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church, 4600 Stockdale Highway, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charities of your choice.
