Heaven rejoiced on January 21, 2005 when our Tammy suddenly left us to be with the Lord. As we are saddened at our loss: we also gain comfort at looking back at her life. Tamara Joy Kom was born on August 19, 1962 in Delano, California. She was raised by her family in the close knit community of McFarland. She attended Kern Ave. Elementary and McFarland High School. She was an active member of the McFarland Church of the Brethren. In 1980, her family moved to Bakersfield. Tammy furthered her education at Bakersfield Junior College and then went on to receive her college degree from Cal State Bakersfield. While going to Cal State, Tammy was set up on a blind date by her twin sister. This is when Tammy met the love of her life. Tammy married Jeff Parker on July 21, 1990. They were two peas in a pod and enjoyed doing everything together. Tammy went back to McFarland to do substitute teaching where she was highly requested. She was soon asked to take a full-time teaching job. Tammy taught first grade for several years. She resigned in 1998 so that she could be a full-time mommy to her sweet baby Jillian. Tammy was a good mommy to her little girl. She took time to read, play and introduced Jillian to the Lord Jesus Christ. She also was active and very much enjoyed the friends she had with Bible Study fellowship. Anyone who knew Tammy will certainly miss seeing her smile and her laugh. Her family will miss the special silly names she had for her brother and sisters. Tammy was always so thoughtful; calling if someone was sick or sad and rejoicing with all the happy moments everyone had. Her memory was something we all envied; she could recall every event and everyones name. We will miss hearing about her on-line internet bargains. Tammy was a quiet and private person, but she had a very close relationship with Jesus Christ and it was her desire that her family and friends would also have a close relationship with God. Tammys family meant everything to her. She is survived by her husband, Jeff and daughter, Jillian Joy; her parents, Frank and Marlene Kom; sister, Julie Bridges and husband, Denny; twin sister, Teresa Pozas and husband, Dave; brother, Richard and wife, Kimberly; mother-in-law, Becky Parker; father-in- law, Dick Parker and wife, Carol; sister-in-law, Susan Canterberry and husband, Troy; and sister-in-law, Robyn Klassen and husband, Scott. Tammy had a soft spot in her heart for her nieces and nephews: Audrey, Adrienne, Claire, Alex, Justin, Devin, Colin, TJ, Joshua, Derrik, Jack Parker and Ava Suzanne. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Teri Grantz. A celebration of Tammys life will be held at Calvary Bible Church, 48 Manor St., on Friday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m. A private interment for family and friends will be at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions on the familys behalf may be made in c/o of H D P, 912 High St., Delano, CA 93215. We will forever love and miss our sweet Tammy.
