He is survived by his adoring and devoted wife of 13 years, Gina; sons, William Robert Taylor III and Scot Michael Taylor both of Bakersfield; and daughter, Erin Renee Taylor of Greensboro, North Carolina. He will be sadly missed by his stepchildren, Brian and Vince Mesias both of Bakersfield. Bob is also survived by his parents, William Robert Taylor Sr. and Lucille Brake Taylor of Lafayette, Louisiana; his sisters, Kelley Brothers of Houston, Texas and Jody Robbins of Mandeville, Louisiana; two grandchildren and their families. Bob was born in Houston, Texas and moved with his family to Bakersfield in 1972. Bob graduated from West High School in 1974. Following graduation he moved to College Station, Texas where he earned his BBS from Texas A & M in 1979: Cum Laude. In the 80s Bob worked as a landman for Fuller Oil Company in Bakersfield and was president of Bakersfield Landman Association. Bob moved to Los Angeles in the 90s where he met his wife, Gina. They brought their family back to Bakersfield and opened Team Gear sporting goods in February 2002. Bob was very proud of the business he and his wife built together and enjoyed being involved in the community. His sense of humor and generosity will be remembered and missed greatly by many friends and family, as well as our community. He never said no to sponsorships, donations or charities. His favorite part of the business was seeing the little ones come in for their first baseball glove or soccer cleats, etc. and seeing their eyes light up! Bobs passion for music was extraordinary! His talent and ability to hear a song once and play it on the piano or guitar, combined with his beautiful voice brought joy and entertainment to everyone around him. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tommy Lee (Golden Empire Cardiology Group) for the additional years he helped provide our family with our beloved Bob. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Bobs memory to: Bakersfield Homeless Center, 1600 E. Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93301. Friends of Bob and Gina are invited to join in a celebration of Bobs life to be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Ln., on the afternoon of Friday, January 28, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary Funeral Directors Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
