She was born in Dublin, Texas, on April 1, 1927 to Charlie and Lucille Campbell. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1945 and was a member of the Dublin Texas Baptist Church. She moved to Bakersfield, California in 1950 and began working as a switchboard operator at the Bakersfield Californian and also at the 99 Drive- In Theater. She later worked at Thrifty Drug Store in East Bakersfield where she met and married her husband, Earl Padgett. They have been married to each other for 44 years. She enjoyed oil painting, reading, dancing, bowling, traveling and entertaining friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Earl; three daughters, Mary Linda Sones of Sacramento, Nancy Ann Navarrete of Bakersfield and Arline Rose Pappas of Lodi; one son, Lynn Scott Hofer of Fairfield; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Cecil Campbell of Dublin, Texas and one sister, Mary Louise Kay of Bakersfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, at Greenlawn Southwest Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane.
