He was born in Natick, Massachusetts on September 7, 1933 to George and Ida Potter Welch, Jr. He was raised in Wellesley and Natick, Massachusetts with his brother, George. He attended Wellesley High School. In January of 1951, he joined the Air Force and served time in Korea. His last assignment was at George Air Force Base in California. While he was stationed there, he met and married his first wife, Viola Cosme in 1954 and spent the rest of his life in Bakersfield. His second wife was Sheree, his third wife was Patty, and his last wife was Nellie Kirk. After getting out of the service, he worked for Pacific Southern Foundry in the office, then he was a top salesman when he sold Watkins Products, then he went to work for his father-in-law, Manuel Cosme, bailing hay. He then became a welder for Rain for Rent. He went into business for himself as a contract welder in the oilfields. He had a welding shop in Old River, then at his home. Since he was young, he always enjoyed fishing. He and his wife, Nellie, enjoyed taking their boat to the ocean, always catching fish. When he wasnt working or fishing, he nurtured a giant garden of tomatoes, onions, and okra. He always enjoyed having Bar-B-Qs for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie; parents, Ida Schaefer and George B. Welch, Jr.; and grandparents, Delia and George B. Welch, Sr. He is survived by his step children, Robert Kirk and his wife, Francine, Charley Kirk and his wife, Sandy, Tom Kirk, Bryan Kirk, Margie Micheals, Debbie Essary, Ciara Baldridge, and Vivian Bowen; brothers, George D. Welch and Jim Lundell; sisters, Roberta Friberg and Gail Lundell. To honor the wishes of the deceased, there will be no services. He is to be cremated.
