Winslow Sept. 12, 1925 - Jan. 18, 2005 A Memorial Service for Carl W. Winslow will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, at the Salvation Army Community Center, 4417 Wilson Rd. Born in Fellows, CA on September 12, 1925 and promoted to Glory on January 18, 2005, Carl graduated from KCUHS in 1943 and immediately joined the U.S. Navy, serving in both WWII and Korea. After the war, he joined the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Chief Gunners Mate. Carl served as Post Commander of AM VETS Post #3 in Santa Barbara and 1 term as AM VETS California Department Chaplain. He was Corps Sergeant Major of the Salvation Army Bakersfield Corps for 18 years and served on a variety of leadership committees Division-wide. In addition, Carl also served for many years as the Chaplain of the Salvation Army, Bakersfield Adult Rehabilitation Center. Regardless of the assignment, Carl could always be found investing his time and efforts in changing lives. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Winslow Hankins. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Caroline; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Roya Winslow and daughter, Melanie King, all of Bakersfield; son-in-law and his wife, Colleen of Eldorado Hills, CA; and 3 grandchildren, Randy Winslow, Hannah Hankins and Alana Hankins; brothers, Darrell Winslow of Grants Pass, Oregon and Homer Jim Shaul of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters, Bernice Miller, Virginia Graham and Murl Shaul, all of Bakersfield and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Heartfelt thanks to Optimal Hospice for the care, comfort and support you gave to Carl. Also to Adrianne, Susan, Marian and Amanda and to Jennifer, who has been and still is here for grandson, Randy.
