Margaret passed peacefully on January 19, 2005 after her long journey with Alzheimers Disease. Born January 13, 1922, in Newark, New Jersey, Margaret arrived in the Los Angeles area with her family at a young age. She was raised in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Manual Arts High School. In 1946, Margaret, her husband Sam and their two daughters arrived in Bakersfield to establish their home. Their son was born in 1949. While in Bakersfield, Margaret enjoyed raising her family, Square dancing, Round dancing and Textile painting. Margaret left Bakersfield in 1963 and began work with the State College System in Pomona. She retired from California State University Bakersfield in 1987 and moved to Encinitas in San Diego County where she made her home until her illness. Daughters Diana Moore of San Diego, Alice Ann Harel and husband Bob Harel of Bakersfield, and son, Samuel Gregory Speaks of San Bernardino, survive Margaret. There are eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren surviving her as well as cherished friend of the family Ms. Phyllis Gibson.
