Born Bronislawa Sokolowicz in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on October 19, 1914, Betty was the youngest of four sisters born to Joseph and Salomea Sokolowicz. The family moved to the United States where Betty grew up in metropolitan northern New Jersey. She became an American Citizen in 1960. A thirty-year resident of Parkersburg and Vienna, WV, Betty moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1996. She is survived by an older sister, Wanda Poznanski of Rahway, NJ; a niece, Dorothy Ozimek of Escondido, CA; by her sons, Tony Litwinko of Glendale, CA and Richard Litwinko of Springboro, OH; her daughter, Laurie Doverspike of Bakersfield and 8 grandchildren, Kate and Elena Litwinko, Casey and Brooke Litwinko, and Ryan, Aaron, Grant, and Alyssa Doverspike. Her wry humor, inner strength, dedication, thoughtfulness, and quiet love will be missed by all who knew her. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Beverly Manor for their special care and love that was given to our mother especially during her last week of life. A special thank-you goes out to Amanda, an angel on earth who showed a special interest and love for our mother. We would also like to extend our appreciation to Hoffmann Hospice and all the nurses that cared for Betty.
