He passed away peacefully just thirty days after the death of his wife of 59 years, Alyce. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lazaro, Jacob and Robert; and his sister, Lupe. Fred is survived by his brothers, Donald, Adrian, Joseph and Richard; his sisters, Alberta, Agnes and Juanita; his sisters-in-law, Hazel Noe and Sherrie Venzor (Louis); his five children, Fred Jr. (Alejandra), Billie Valdez (Gary), Thomas (Lynda), Candi (Dorothy) and Miki Taylor (Scott); seven grandchildren, Terri Ayon (Rocky), Joshua Estrada, Michael Estrada, Ian Estrada, Sarah Taylor, Matthew Estrada and Jillian Taylor; two great- grandchildren, Hayle and Hunter. Fred became a cowhand at the early age of 14, working for the Chimeneas Ranch and later the Kern County land Company. He also competed in local rodeos in these years. He then served proudly in World War II with the 161st Infantry Regiment, 25th Division, Cannon Company. Fred spent 4 years overseas and was awarded both a Soldiers Medal of Honor for Valor and a Bronze Star. In 1945 he returned to Bakersfield and married the love of his life, Alyce Wilson. They would then start their family and Fred became employed by Mohawk Petroleum. Fred was the epitome of what a husband and father should be and will always be remembered and respected for the love and attention that he gave his family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity. No visitation will be held.
