Ruth Louise Elam
March 8, 1923 - January 30, 2005

On the afternoon of January 30, 2005, our beloved Mother and Grandmother 
passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Though we will 
miss her terribly, we thank God for giving us such a wonderful, beautiful 
woman to love and love us. 

Ruth Louise Carter was born on March 8, 1923 to Howell and Ola Carter in 
McCrory, Arkansas. In 1939, she married Benjamin W. Elam and soon started a 
family. In 1957 they moved to California where B.W. farmed for SA Camp. Their 
family grew over the years and Ruth cherished her family dearly. Her southern 
cooking was the center of family gatherings and one serving was never enough! 
B.W. and Ruth built a life of love, devotion, and old-fashioned values, a 
legacy for us to carry on to our families. 

We take comfort in knowing that she is with her beloved B.W., once again 
reunited after 62 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in October, 2001.

Ruth Elam leaves her sisters Estella Mauldin, Lucille Faughn, and Erna Faye 
Matthews, all of Arkansas to cherish her memory.

She is also survived by her children, Bob and wife, Diana Elam of Rodman, NY, 
Dennis and wife, Euleta Elam of Porterville, CA, Rick and wife, Teresa Elam of 
Bakersfield, CA, Kathy and husband, Steve Hoffman of Bakersfield, CA., and 
Randy and wife, Brenda Elam of Ward, Arkansas.

Her grandchildren, Cara and husband, Tim Holmes of Clovis, CA, Tami and 
husband, Tim Creamer of Clayton, NY, Denise Elam Dees of Bakersfield, CA, Greg 
Elam of Porterville, CA, Kyle and wife, Debbie Elam of Porterville, CA, Brent 
and wife, LeeAnn Elam of Bakersfield, CA, Jeff Hoffman of Arizona, Nathan Elam 
of Ward, AR, Dannette Elam of Conway, AR, Chris Elam of Cabot, AR, and 
Kimberly Hoffman of Bakersfield, CA.

Her precious great-grandchildren, Megan, Mandee, and Mick Dees, Taylor and 
Rylee Creamer, Cherise, Chy, Fernando, and Brenden Elam, and Mackenna Hoffman.

Proverbs 31:10-31

Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, from 2 7 p.m. at Myers Funeral 
Home in Porterville, CA. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, 
February 3, 2005, at 10 a.m., at the Porterville Hillcrest Cemetery with 
family friend, Jerry Goree, officiating.
