Barnett March 19, 1907 - January 30, 2005 Marie was born in DOloron, France to Louis and Lucy Clerou. They immigrated to Bakersfield and started a sheep business in 1908. Marie attended local schools, graduating from KCUHS class of 1925, and married George H. Barnett, KCUHS class of 1923. They lived in Bakersfield the rest of their lives, enjoying a large circle of friends and all things Bakersifeld. Being the eldest of eight children, Marie loved the camaraderie of her brothers and sisters and directing the family traffic. She was preceded in death by husband, George; brothers, John Vincent, Joe, and Louie Clerou; sisters, Claire Sill and Alice Freeman; grandchildren, George Barnett III and Romain Barnett. Marie is survived by her brother, Dr. Romain Clerou; sons, George Barnett Jr. and his wife, Linda, Dick Barnett and his wife, Louise; grandchildren, Dan Barnett, Jane Hildebrand, Lois Barnett, Dixie Blackburn, Sally Campbell, Buckly Barnett, Richard Barnett Jr., Joe Barnett, and Cathy Brno. A very special thank you to Marie Barnetts caregivers, Maria Jimenez, Rose Brownlee, Veronica Hernandez, and Kathy Erwin; and to Eucharistic minister, Rosemary Anspach. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Church Friday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Richard Barnett Jr., Joe Barnett, Buckly Barnett, Romain Clerou Jr., Tim Sill, and Pierre Freeman. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Hildebrand, Gary Balckburn, Joe Sill, Dick Taylor, George Clerou, Louie Clerou, and Tom Freeman. Visitation is Thursday, January 3, from 1 6 p.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church Building Fund or Garces Memorial High School.
