Ross 10/26/1913 - 2/1/2005 Born October 26, 1913 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Abrahm and Helena Peters Voth and passed into eternal rest February 1, 2005. She attended school and lived in Kern County (Shafter and Bakersfield) for most of her life. Lorena was a true Matriarch in every sense of the word. Left single as a young woman, her determination and strong will served her well as she raised three young children on her own for 21 years. In her final years, her beloved son, Phillip L. Foster, Jr. and her adored daughter-in-law, Lainie Foster lovingly cared for her, along with her youngest daughter, Sally Edwards of Sacramento. After her children were raised, Lorena married her soul-mate, Carl F. Ross and gained a new daughter in her life, Debra Widiger (David) of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Velma Gaede, and her beloved husband, Carl. During their 35 years of marriage, she and Carl enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, taking cruises, playing bridge, gardening, remodeling their home, spending time with family, attending their church, and Sons of Norway and Retired Officers get-togethers, etc. They led an active and very full life. Lorena worked many years for Walter Mortenson Insurance Co. and then for San Dimas Medical Group until her retirement and was active in many womens and business organizations including the Insurance Womens Club and Toastmistress Society. Survivors also include daughter, Emily Foster; stepson, Leonard Ross; stepdaughter, Bonnie Bright; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to grand-daughter, Robin Hastie for her loving care during her final weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Society. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, 3 to 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary.
