He was a native of Lovelock, Nevada and was the son of the late James Terrell and Barbara Mae Summers. He was preceded in death by his brother, Delford Summers and sister, Ola Mae Summers. He was a retired carpenter with many other trades, he could do anything, he was a perfectionist. He was a United States Army World War II Veteran, a war hero with many medals including a Purple Heart. He proudly fought for his country. He faithfully watched his grandson, Casey Mears race the Target Chip Ganassi #41 in the NASCAR Cup series. Mr. Summers survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gloria Ann Summers; sons, Clay Summers and Gary Richard Summers; daughter, Carol Denise Mears and husband, Roger Mears; grandchildren, Casey James Mears and Zachary Wyatt Summers; Aunt Betty Marcil; nephew, Ame Marcil and wife, Mary (Moe) Marcil; dear friend, Bill Stymus and wife, Kathy Stymus. The family would like to thank Dr. Chuck Harring and Dr. Scott Brotze for their concern and excellent care. The family would also like to thank the many nurses that compassionately cared for our husband, father, and Pops. Special thanks to nurses, Rochelle Aycoth and Melissa Ellis, his two favorite girls as he referred to them, his angels as WE refer to them!
